Mikaleen Loveless concentrates just before taking off from the board during Carbon's home meet.

Carbon High held it's annual diving meet at the Price Municipal Pool on Saturday and the home team splashed their way to a great finish.

In the boys competition Michael Glasson took first place overall with 331.97 points. His dives were precise and at times the heights he achieved off the board may the crowd ooo and ahh.

Phillip Noyes took second overall with 275.40 points. Coach Stewart Foster said that the height on his dives is improving each time out.

Fourth place was taken by Jacob Perez. Perez only started diving a month ago, but has learned quickly.

In the girls competition the Lady Dinos didn't fare quite so well, but still finished strong.

The top diver for the Carbon females was Mikaleen Loveless who placed third overall, despite the fact she failed on one of her dives. She recovered after that and came back strong to finish well.

Lyn D' Anderson finished in fourth place in the meet. Her consistency in meets has been very good, but in this one she made two bad dives which took her down in points.

Katie Hobbs is a first year diver and only has a month of diving under her belt. The coach said he wasn't even sure if she would be ready for Saturdays meet.

"She surprised us," said Foster. "She proved us wrong by placing in 10th place."

The meet was smaller than it normally is due to the fact that ACT tests were being given along the Wasatch Front and a lot of schools decided not to come down because of that.

Foster said he is seeing steady improvement in the team and feels their chance at state is very good.

The teams next meet is at South Summit High in Kamas on Dec. 21.
