Last Saturday the Carbon Divers went to a qualifying diving meet in American Fork and as a team came away with second place.

At the meet the Carbon kids were competing with seven boys teams and six girls team from around the state.

Unlike most of the other sports in high school, there is not classifications used in matching up teams in diving. Large schools compete with small schools.

"We have a very good team this year," says Coach Stewart Foster. "Our biggest problem is that we don't have enough kids competing. I am convinced if we had a few more come out for the team we could have a good shot at taking first place in the state in both girls and boys diving."

In the American Fork meet both Michael Glasson who placed fourth and Philip Noyes, who placed fifth, improved their scores. Glasson improved by 32 points. Neither did the best dives they have done before, but their tries were good enough to place them near the top.

In the girls diving Mikaleen Loveless won the event, improving her score by 24 points from her first meet this season.

Lyn'D Anderson placed third at the meet.

This Saturday the team will have a home diving meet at the Desert Wave Pool. The start time for the diving will be at 10 a.m. and at least four schools will be competing.
