Autumn Fest Art Exhibit - The John Wesley Powell River History Museum Art Gallery, 885 East Main, Green River, is hosting the Autumn Fest Art Exhibit with works by prominent Utah artists. The exhibit runs from September 27 through December 31, 2004.
CEU's Bread and Soup Nights - Begin Monday Oct 25th and continue Nov 1st, Nov 8th, Nov 15th and Nov 22nd in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Adults $4.00, Students $3.00, Children $2.00. All you can eat bread and soup. Proceeds go to the Carbon County Food Bank.

No Parking - Helper City Police Department advises all residents that parking is not allowed November 1 to March 1 of each year from 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on any city street. Additional information is available at www.helpercitypd.net and click on city ordinances.
Price City Fall Cleanup - Price City will allow yard trash to be set out along the curb or ditch line within the public right of way. This cleanup is only for Price city residents and businesses. Dates of cleanup are October 30 to November 13, 2004. Trash may not be set out before or after these dates. Trash must be organized in separate piles of 1) tree limbs, grass, bushes and weeds; 2) concrete, brick, rock and dirt; 3) metal; 4) rubber tires. All trash must be secured so it does not blow away in the wind. Do not include household domestic garbage in these piles. Do not include hazardous, poisonous or toxic liquids or solids. Commercial companies and contractors are not to use this time to have their project debris hauled off. Price City reserves the right to refuse to pick up trash and materials it feels it is not able to properly handle, the property owner will be responsible for the removal of these items. Christmas Tree Tags Available - for the Ferron/Price Ranger District, will be available to the public on November 22. The tags will be sold for $5 each on a first-come, first served basis. A family may only purchase permit in their name. Tags will not be available by mail. A tree may be cut anywhere on the Ferron/Price Ranger District except for Huntington Canyon, Straight Canyon, campgrounds, and timber sale areas. Trees may not be cut within 100 feet of roads. Many aspen stands are being replaced by conifers. To slow this process, conifer removal in aspen stands is encouraged. Any size tree may be cut. Volunteers Needed - Rocky Mountain Hospice and Faith in Action Volunteer program is looking for caring volunteers who would like to work with elderly people who do not qualify for Home Health or Hospice care but could use companionship, someone to call to see and check that they are all right, someone to run the errands they can no longer do. Volunteers will try to help these people live as independently as possible in their own homes. Information Gathering Meeting - Active Re-entry and the Community Action Resource Committee are sponsoring a meeting to garner information from community members who use scooters and wheelchairs on November 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Wellington City Hall, 150 West Main, Wellington. We would like to improve safety and access for wheelchair and scooter users and also find out where potential hazards might exist. C.A.R.E. Program - The Price area has been developing a C.A.R.E. Program with the Alzheimer's Association. The program needs caregivers who could use a break from the constant chores of taking care of a family member with memory loss. The program also needs volunteers to help provide companion services while the caregiver gets a much needed break for 1-3 hours. Volunteers will be reimbursed for mileage. Casa Volunteers Needed - Each year hundreds of children in Carbon and Emery counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children. Frontier Project - A local Family Support Group, Frontier Family F.U.T.U.R.E.S. meets every third Thursday in Carbon County. This is an organized parent education and support group. Anyone interested is invited to participate. Meetings begin at 7:00 at the Castle Valley Center, 755 North Cedar Hills Dr. in Price. Childcare and refreshments are available. Foster Grandparents - Volunteers of America-Utah needs grandparents to join the Foster Grandparent Program team. Foster Grandparents receive a modest non-taxable stipend of about $200 per month. Individuals who are at least 60 years old; love children; have a limited income, and extra time to share may qualify. FGP volunteers serve 20 hours per week in local schools, and receive a daily meal, a yearly physical, accident and liability insurance while on duty, and transportation to and from the school. Honoring Veterans - The American Legion Price Post #3 and the VFW Miners Post 2379 and the Price Marine Corps League are joining together this Veterans Day to honor all Veterans of all wars with a special service on November 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the doughboy statue in the Peace garden. These organizations invite all veterans of all the military services to participate and pay tribute to American servicemen and women, alive and dead, who dedicated part of themselves to service and allegience to their country, their God, and their flag. The public is invited and encouraged to attend this memorium. VFW Field Service Officer Visit - On Nov. 4 a Field Service Officer from the VFW Department Service Office in Salt Lake City will be visiting Price to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States to qualify for assistance.
