Chris Stockburger, the son of former Carbon County residents Ted and Julie Stockburger and grandson of Dan Stockburger and Jan Price, won the international Tour de l'Abitibi on July 25.

The 2004 Tour de l'Abitibi, which many consider to be the junior version of the Tour de France, was Stockburger's first international win.

He has been the National champion since he was 12 years old.

According to Cycling News, Stockburger's time of 13 hours, 20 minutes and 28 seconds was four seconds ahead of his nearest competitor, Zach Bolian to give him the overall title.

Stockburger will be competing locally to defend his National title. The event will take place in Park City beginning Aug. 19.
