Letter to the Editor: State flags should be better constructed

By PAUL L. YOUNG
St. George

Editor:

Would the person who is over the making of our state flag please make it out of better material and better workmanship as well. I replace three Utah flags for each time I replace our national emblem.

Old Glory has a wider hem or seam on the end. It has six to eight rows of stitches about one inch apart running up and down and across the full width of the flag. This controls the unraveling.

With the state flag one good wind storm and I have to replace it. Either they should produce a better flag or I will stop flying it. I replaced four Utah flags during April and May of this year alone.

I ask that any that are having a similar problem send a letter the editor and perhaps, with that, we can get our Utah State flag upgraded.
