Local athletes compete in karate tournament

Local karate athletes traveled to Bountiful to compete in the Rocky Mountain National Karate Tournament on March 16. The karate experts returned home quite successful. Competing in the white belt category, Cody Davis, age six, placed third in sparring, Patrick Cox, age 10, placed third in sparring, while Hyrum Cox, age 18, finished in fourth place in sparring. Whitney Thompson, age nine, placed second in kata, while Megan Dayley, age seven placed first in kata, and second in sparring in the blue belt division. Brett Morgan, age 16, competed in the green belt category and placed fourth in kata and third in sparring. Cheylee Montgomery, age 12, placed fourth in kata and second in sparring in the purple belt category.
