Wash dumping tradition against the law

While the trash in this wash area is very old, some residents continue to dump garbage and unwanted items in remote areas of the county. Officials remind residents that such activity is highly illegal and that they do follow up on cases of newly dumped trash when it is reported to them or discovered. Residents are reminded that the Carbon County Landfill is open long hours and every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. There is no charge for county residents to dispose of trash at that location, although those using the facility are expected to sort their trash and put it in various places in the landfill for recycling or disposal.
