Salt Lake Community College was an all-around spoiler for College of Eastern Utah's basketball programs last weekend.
The Bruins knocked CEU's women's and men's teams from the Region 18 tournament, which took place in Twin Falls, Idaho.
In the women's bracket, Eastern Utah advanced to the second round of play after soundly beating North Idaho College.
Five Lady Eagles scored in double figures in the 90-69 win.
But, in the semi-final game against Salt Lake, CEU was unable to overcome the 20-40 lead the Lady Bruins took into halftime.
Salt Lake advanced to the championship game with a 70-62 victory.
Three CEU players made the All-League team. Cassie and Chelsey Warburton were named first team, while Lindsey Arnoldus made third team.
Salt Lake would be eliminated in the championship round 56-62 by College of Southern Idaho, the tournament host.
In the men's tournament, Eastern Utah entered the first round game against Salt Lake.
In the regular season, CEU had won three out of four times against the team.
CEU struggled from the field in the first half of the game, going 9 for 31 and 2 for 11 from three-point range.
The Eagles trailed at the half 24-32.
However, shots began to fall for Eastern Utah in the second half and the Eagles made a charge to even the score.
According to assistant coach Brady Trenkle, CEU's defense was more solid and gave the team a look at tying the game in the final seconds.
With 17 seconds left on the clock and CEU trailing by two, the Eagles had posssesion and worked the ball inside.
Salt Lake defenders forced a jump ball with 1.9 second on the clock.
CEU maintained possession and looked to make a final play from under its own basket. The team looked to take an easy shot, but settled for an open three.
The ball rimmed in and out as the buzzer sounded and Salt Lake advanced.
The Bruins were eliminated in the semi-final round by Snow College. Southern Idaho went on to take the tournament and advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association championship in Kansas.
