PRICE - Hazel Baker Redford Cowley, age 84, completed her journey here on earth and returned to her heavenly home Jan. 15, 2004 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 6, 1919 in Myton, to John Phillip and Philena Gibson Baker. She married John Robert Redford Aug. 22, 1938. After his passing in 1942, she married Vaughn L. Cowley Aug. 28, 1945 in Salt Lake City. He also preceded her in death in 1970.
She was a member of the LDS Church where she served in numerous callings. She enjoyed very much her association with her dear friends in the special interest group where she served as secretary. Her love of knowledge helped her become a proliferate reader. Her most profound love was her family with whom she spent countless happy hours, supporting them in all they did.
Hazel is survived by children, Ralph and Georgina Redford, Aurora, Ill.; Roberta and Parl Stevenson of Boneta; Warren and Lee Cowley, Austin, Texas; Peggy White, Wellington; Ted Cowley, Price; Jeff and Tonya Cowley, Cleveland; and Duaine and Amy Cowley, Boulder City, Nev.; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Phillip Baker; and sister Mildred Buie. In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by son, Danny; son-in-law, Rulon White; one brother and four sisters. Her other sister, Alice Olsen, passed away the day after her.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 19, 11 a.m. in the Price 6th Ward LDS Chapel. Burial, Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
FERRON - Irma Christiansen Box, age 93, returned home to her Heavenly Father Jan. 16, 2004 in Ferron.
She was born Nov. 6, 1910 in Emery to John J. and Mary Kirstene Jorgensen Christiansen. She married Varian Arnold Box Feb. 11, 1931 in Salt Lake City, later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
She was a wonderful, loving mother and friend, sharing her many talents with everyone. She loved to sew, crochet and quilt, making and giving many of her creations to loved ones. She was also an excellent cook and always had pies, cakes, sweet rolls or cookies to share.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in ward and stake leadership responsibilities. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. For several years she and her husband owned and operated the Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Cedar City where she supervised the nursing and cooking staff.
Irma enjoyed her family, friends and many grandchildren. She was proud of her heritage and family reunions were very important to her.
Irma is survived by daughters, Joyce (Orvel) Allen of Emery; JoAnn Behling of Ferron; "Mary" (Gary) Jenkins of Oregon; and Connie Morgan of Montana; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Vernon and Merlin Christiansen; and sisters, Delma Leslie and Euphemia Case. She was preceded in death by husband, Varian; son-in-law, Dean Behling; and brothers, Rellus and Richard Christiansen.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 22, 12 noon in the old Ferron LDS Chapel. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial, Ferron City Cemetery.
WALDORF, Md. - Nikki Rae Oswald Flemetakis, age 49, passed away Jan. 6, 2004 after a long battle with MS and diabetes in Waldorf, Md.
Born Aug. 31, 1954 in North Hollywood, Calif. to Nick and Ila Rae Leavitt Flemetakis. Nikki will be dearly missed by all.
Survived by daughter, April Oswald, Waldorf, Md.; mother, Ila Rae O'Brien, Elmo; two brothers, Bill (Gloria) Flemetakis, Kenilworth; Steven Jay (Sandy) Flemetakis, Las Vegas, Nev.; stepmother, Bobbie Flemetakis, Las Vegas, Nv.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Nick Flemetakis; and brother, Dave Flemetakis.

PRICE - Our loving mother and sister Doris Jennie Kofford Solt died Jan. 14, 2004 at her home in Price.
She was the daughter of Lars Andrew and Jennie Caroline Redford Kofford. She was the fifth of five children. She married Roy Solt on Feb. 2, 1952, later divorced.
She enjoyed embroidery, reading and going to church. She had two special friends that went to church with her, Jean Christensen and Lois Lundberg. Also two wonderful neighbors, Midge Cowley and Linda Crow.
Doris is survived by son, Larry (Wendy) Solt; three daughters, Marsha (Tracy) Smith, Nadean Lescoe and Geraldine (Tracy) Hills; three granddaughters, Melissa Lescoe, Amanda Solt and Mandy Smith; six grandsons, Jared Lescoe, Eric Lescoe,, Christopher Lescoe, Trevor Hills, Trenton Hills and Cody Smith. Also survived by brother, Dan (Florence) Kofford, Talmage; sister, Lena (Bud) Christensen, Price; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, brother and spouse, sister and spouse, four nieces and three nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Price 4th LDS Ward Saturday on Jan. 17. Burial, Elysian Gardens in Murray.
PRICE/TEMPE, Ariz. - Flavio Eugene "Gene" Herrera, age 42, passed away Jan. 12, 2004 in Tempe, Ariz.
He was a graduate of both Carbon High School and the College of Eastern Utah. He was a free spirit. He enjoyed riding mountain bikes, telling jokes (got time for a quick joke), photography, and meeting new people. He was an excellent mechanic.
Survived by sons, Joshua (Short Pants) Herrera; Matthew Brewster; and their mother, Traci Smith, Park City. Also survived by loving companion, Paula Bruse, Tempe, Ariz.; father, Flavio Herrera (Stella Montoya); siblings, Josie Espinosa (Steve Yamaguchi); Terrie Tweddell (Lee), Ernie (Kamille), David (Melissa) and Toni Thayn (Bill), all of Price; Tom (Tammy) of Port Orchard, Wash.; several nieces and nephews; and other family members including his godparents, Ernaldo and Esther Herrera, Magna; as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by mother, Sarah Martinez Herrera; siblings, Jose Roy, Mary Helen, Mary Linda and Joseph Herrera; as well as maternal and paternal grandparents.

PRICE - Our loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and aunt, Maquette Nichole Hill, age 19, passed away Jan. 15, 2004 from injuries received in an auto accident in Elko, Nev.
She was born Jan. 13, 1985 in Price to John Hill and Susan Nichols.
Maquette was a very outgoing and compassionate person. She enjoyed dancing at Linda Johnston's School of Dance for 11 years. She volunteered at Castle Country Care Center, where she was later employed as activity coordinator. She loved being outdoors and camping with her family and friends. Maquette always loved playing with and taking care of younger children. Her goal was to go to college and become a physicians assistant, but her goal was cut short. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

ORANGEVILLE/PRICE - Alice Elizabeth Baker Olsen, age 90, returned to her Heavenly Father on Jan. 16, 2004 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
She was born April 26, 1913 in Little Sioux, Iowa to John Phillip and Philena Gibson Baker. Married Nyle V. Olsen Sept. 21, 1933 in Elmo. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on June 2, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1977.
Alice was an active and very devoted member of the LDS Church. She served in various callings in her wards and also served a temple mission for the Provo and Manti LDS Temples. She enjoyed working outside in her yard and together Nyle and Alice cultivated a farm in Cleveland. For the past year, she has resided at the Heirloom Inn in Price. Alice was a very loving and kind person, who had a great love for children. Her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life.
She is survived by her son, Brent Olsen, Westford, Vt.; granddaughter, Crystal McCray, Fletcher, Vt.; grandson, John Nielsen, Northfield, Vt.; great-grandson, Kace Nielsen, Northfield, Vt.; great-grandson, Jeremy Farr, Fletcher, Vt.; brother, Phillip (Pat) Baker, Grantsville; sister, Mildred (Tom) Buie, West Valley; and special nieces, Roberta and Brenda. She was preceded in death by parents; brother, Ben Baker; sisters, Eleanor Baker, Edith Larsen, Myrle Fausett and Hazel Cowley.

HELPER - On Jan. 13, 2004 Donna Jean Thomas was welcomed home with open arms and the words, "Well done thou good and faithful servant." Today she is enjoying a long anticipated reunion with her beloved mother and sister.
Donna began her sojourn on this earth in Consumers on June 6, 1930 the first child of Nick and Fern Stevenson Thomas. Donna was raised, educated and spent most of her life in Carbon County. Many have said of her, "The world is a better place because of her and the world would be an even better place if there were more people like her." As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she spent her life in service to her savior by fulfilling a mission to Hong Kong and in many capacities in her wards and stakes and by serving her family, her friends and her fellow man.
She is survived by her father; brothers, Bob (Dolores) Houston, Texas; Mike, Spring Glen; sister, Saundra (Jim) Cochrane, Herriman; many nieces and nephews whom she loved as much as if they were her own and many other beloved relatives.
Viewing and services were held Jan. 17 in the Helper LDS Stake Center. Interment in the Price City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
PRICE - Ernest F. Felice, age 82, passed away Jan. 16, 2004 in Price.
Born Mary 18, 1921 in Helper to Frank and Elizabeth Siletta Felice.
Ernest was a graduate of Carbon High School and Carbon College. Served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, Master Sgt. Graduate of Boeing School of Aeronautics. Educated at the University of California at Los Angeles, University of Tennessee and University of Utah. Long time employee of Litton Industries (Litton Guidance and Control Systems) with assignments in Beverly Hills, Woodland Hills, and Canoga Park, Calif. Joined Electronic Memories and Magnetics in West Jordan. Worked abroad in Hong Kong, Sinagpore and Belgium. Owner of O'Laughlins Electric Supply, Salt Lake City. He retired in 1984. Ernest was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survived by two sisters, Matilda (Til) Davido, Price; Stella Gigliotti, Helper; two brothers, Rudy Felice, Price; Frank (Margaret) Marrelli, Helper; sister-in-law, Molly Marrelli; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; stepfather, Guiseppie Marrelli; brother, Chuck Marrelli; brother-in-law, Oscar Davido; Alane Davido; baby sister, Corinda and sister-in-law, Jennie Felice.

PRICE - Gilbert Vermont Miller, age 72, slipped away peacefully into God's arms Jan. 17, 2004 in Price, surrounded by his family.
He was born Feb. 12, 1931 in Spring Glen to G.V. "Vern" and Leona Anna Keen Miller.
Having a learning disability did not keep Gilbert from being a hard worker, whether doing farm work or washing dishes, taking pride in everything he did.
He attended the Ann Self School and the sheltered workshop for many years.
Having strong faith in God and a heart of gold he loved his family, small children and his many friends by whom he will be deeply missed.
Gilbert is survived by his brother, Boyd and Anita Garner of Salt Lake City; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Preceded in death by a brother, Richley; and two sisters, Annie Budo and Diana McKelvey.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 21, 11 a.m., at Fausett Mortuary in Price where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial, Carbon County Cemetery.
PRICE/DEEP CREEK - Ruth Ada Norton Young, age 73 of Deep Creek, formerly of Price, passed away peacefully Jan. 17, 2004 at her home.
She was born Jan. 12, 1931 in Frankfort, Ky., to Louis Parker and Lula Mae Hibbard Norton.
When she was six years old, her family moved to Grand Junction, Colo., and at age 14 her father died. She attended high school in Grand Junction and met and married LaVern Lowell Young. In their 54 years of marriage, they have lived in Colorado, California and Idaho.
Ruth was loved by all who knew her and was a very accomplished naturopath and herbalist.
She loved horses and spent much of her time with them while raising her children.
LaVern was, and is, a rancher, and Ruth was a dedicated wife and mother. She loved people and would do anything to help them.
She spent many hours working in the Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School, and was dedicated to the work of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
She and LaVern recently finished the temple work for her father, mother, deceased sister and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, LaVern, Deep Creek; children, Larry Young, Wellington; Mickey (Lori) Young, Buhl, Idaho; Donna Young, Clark Young, both of Jerome, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Opal (Dale) Henderson, Palasade, Colo. She was also a foster parent of Juanita Ferwerda, who is the mother of seven. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Mae.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 20, 11 a.m., at the LaPoint LDS Chapel. Interment, LaPoint Cemetery under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary, Roosevelt.
PRICE - Arthur A. Clegg, age 87, passed away Jan 17, 2004 in Price.
He was born Dec. 4, 1916 in Elmo to Walter and Evie Clegg. He married Rhoda Truman Jan. 16, 1939 in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
He served in the U.S. Army during World Ward II.
He worked hard all his life as an auto mechanic, welder and coal miner. He enjoyed playing pool, hunting and fishing. He also loved socializing at the post office.
He was a high priest in the LDS Church and a resident of Emery County for 85 years.
He is the loving father of Joan (Jim) Wall of Mapleton; Janice (Dave) Price of Price; Linda (Gary) Hess of Las Vegas, Nev.; Arthur Spencer (Hilda) Clegg of Glendale, Ariz.; and JoyLynn (Larry) Palmer of Henderson, Nev.; 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by wife, Rhoda; parents; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 21, noon in the Huntington 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial, Huntington City Cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
