Letter to the Editor: Computer voting machines good idea
What's more essential to our democracy than voting machines that we can trust? Nothing, that's what. Citizens must have confidence that all votes will be counted accurately.
So, before we rush into using computerizing voting machines, let's do everything we can to make sure they are not easily manipulated by computer hackers or unscrupulous politicians.
The solution is simple. Each machine should be required to print out a receipt for voters. This would provide a record and a method for a reliable recount in case one was ever needed.
I don't understand who would ever be against this common sense idea.
