Lady Vikings get stomped by Pirates

East Carbon took their second loss of the region 18 season on Thursday night. However, the win was not easy for the Tintic Miners.
The Lady Vikings were outnumbered and well-worn from their team effort in the junior varsity game.
But East Carbon failed to show signs of fatigue in their play, leading 20-17 at the half and keeping a managable point deficit until the last minutes of the game.
Tintic took the win, 49-37.
Amanda Hepworth led the East Carbon effort with 11 points, while Samantha Madrid posted 10.
Nikole Larson accumulated six points and several steals, sparking a Lady Viking defensive surge with her endless harrassment.
Donna Turner and Janet Lowe led the team in rebounding and added eight points between them.
Tintic dynamo Emily Carter, who has routinely devestated opponents with her ball handling, passing and consistent shooting, had another strong game for the Lady Miners.
While East Carbon was able to reduce her normal point average with their strong defense, she was still able to clinch the win for Tintic with her free throw shooting in the final minutes of the contest.
Carter finished with 19.
The teams fatigue was evident the following night, though.
Green River annihilated the Lady Vikings, running the floor and forcing innumerable turnovers.
The Pirates won 59-25.
Larsen led the team with nine points. Freshman Tabitha Western added eight points.
