Both College of Eastern Utah teams returned home with a pair of wins over the struggling Colorado Northwestern Spartans.

In the mens game, CEU dominated the second half of Friday night's game, outscoring CNCC 50-35 despite a 39-39 score at the half.

The final score was 89-74.

On Saturday night, CEU beat the clock with a last second shot to win. CNCC led the majority of the game before a CEU basket with three seconds remaining tied the score and was immediately followed with the winning basket, ending the game 73-71.

CEU rises to 6-4 in conference play on the season. CNCC drops to 0-8.

In womens action, the Lady Eagles never hesitated in their dual wins over CNCC.

Cassie Warburton scored 20 points in Friday night's 90-70 win.

As a team, the Lady Eagles shot 52 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the line in the opening night game while CNCC had a 33 percent field goal average and shot 61 percent from the free throw line.

Saturday's game was even more of a disaster for the Lady Spartans.

CEU outran CNCC the entirety of the game and nearly doubled the Lady Spartans in points.

The final score was 95-54.

Cassie Warburton was again the high scorer for CEU, with 21 points. Chelsey Warburton followed with 20 points on the night and Kami Blackburn added 12.

The wins take CEU to 8-2 in conference play and secure them second place in division standings. CNCC drops to 2-6.

Both teams will go on Christmas break and will not return to the court until the end of the month.

Friday's womens game against Pima Community College has been cancelled.
