Jeremy Atwater dunks during CEU's big opening night win over North Idaho College.

After a 20 point win over North Idaho College on Friday night, the College of Eastern Utah Eagles lost the second game of the weekend series by three.

The final score of Friday's game was 86-66.

Sophomore Casey Iverson lead the Eagles with 21 points, two steals and one block during Saturday's 76-79 loss.

With a 50 percent field goal average and a 69 percent three-point average, CEU's only poor shooting effort came from the free throw line.

The Eagles made 11 out of 23 from the line on Saturday night while NIC shot over 80 percent, hitting 19 of 23.

"We both shot the same amount of free throws, but they hit more of theirs," head coach Bryan Zollinger said. "We didn't play with as much intensity as the night before."

CEU teeters on the verge of a winning conference record, having won four of eight conference games.

"[Our record] is nothing to panic about or get overly excited about, we're only eight games in," Zollinger commented. "A lot of the conference teams have losses."

The Eagles travel to Rangely, Colo. this weekend to face the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans.

The Spartans are 0-6 in conference play.

The Eagles will return to conference play after the holidays against College of Southern Idaho at home on Jan. 2 and 3.

CSI is currently tied for second in conference standings with Dixie college. Both teams have a 5-3 record.
