PRICE/MIDVALE - Wilford Ward Cox, 57, died Nov. 10, 2003 at St. Mark's Hospital.
He was born Sept. 29, 1946 in Price, to Richard Ward and Kenna Ruby Robertson Cox.
Wilford was raised in Orangeville. He was a carpenter.
He enjoyed the beauty and serenity of nature and had a special love for the desert. His hobbies were being out in nature, reading spending time with his grandchildren and sight-seeing.
He was a tender, loving grandfather and father. He loved the gospel and taught through his example.
Survived by children, Amy (Blake) Belnap, Liberty; Natalie (Royd) Darrington, Laverkin; Quincy Cox, St. George; Chafin Cox, Birmingham, England Mission; brothers, Dan Cox, Orangeville; and Bob (Julie) Cox Loa. Also five grandsons, one granddaughter, many loving nieces and nephews and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by parents; and brother, Earl.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 13, 1 p.m., at the Orangeville LDS Chapel. A viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial, Orangeville Cemetery.
HELPER - Darrell Gross, age 85, died Nov. 8, 2003 in Price.
He was born Oct. 22, 1918 in Missouri to Wallace and Madge Gross. Married Ann Catherine Plex June 15, 1947 in Ely, Nev. She died July 23, 1976.
Darrell was a longtime resident of Helper, where he retired from D&RGW was an engineer. Served U.S. Army.
He loved to fish, hunt and spend time in the outdoors. He will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by son, Joe D. Gross, Helper; grandson, Joseph D. (Roxanna) Gross Jr., Wendover; brother, Donald (Maxine) Gross, Arizona; granddaughter, Britney Gross, Denver, Colo.; great-granddaughters, Jennifer Ann and Ashleigh Gross, David Gross, Nevada. Darrell was preceded in death by brother, Slim.
HELPER/SEATTLE, Wash. - Dana Mae Phelps, former Helper resident, passed away Nov. 9, 2003 at Mercer Island, Wash.
She was born Dec. 12, 1931 in Spring Glen, one of 10 children born to Alfred J. Phelps and Elizabeth J. Walker Phelps.
She worked for a number of years as a secretary in the Carbon County Sheriff's Office in Price prior to becoming a secretary in the Utah State Attorney General's office in Salt Lake City.
In her almost 30 years at the state office, she worked for a number of attorney generals, most notably, Phil Hansen.
Upon retirement, she moved to Seattle, Wash., in 1997 to be near her daughter and grandsons.
Dana is survived by daughter, Pamela Semkin; grandsons, Erron and Braston Semken of Seattle, Wash. Also survived by a brother, William C. Phelps of Salt Lake City; sister, Barbara M. Jolley of Mercer Island, Wash.; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Donald J. Phelps, Walker Phelps, A. Clark Phelps, Dr. O.W. Phelps; and three sisters, Lola (Dude) Robertson, Irene Wilstead and Beatrice P. Jensen.
Funeral services and interment will take place Saturday, Nov. 15, in Seattle, Wash.
