The Carbon High boys basketball team finished the season on Tuesday against Wasatch. Although the team lost 86-69, the experience helped to prepare the team for post season action which will begin Friday in St. George at 7 p.m.

The Dinos traveled to Wasatch where the team struggled throughout the game to gain control of the score board. Jeff Anderson however contributed nicely to the Dino effort with 21 points, three of these coming from the three point line.

Jake Wood followed in scoring with 14 points, nine of which were made from the long distance line, while Matt Jewkes scored 11 points against the hosting Wasps team.

Despite the Dinos loss, the team sharpened up their skills and prepared for their preliminary playoff game which will take place on Friday. The game puts the Dinos in a do-or-die situation. If the team losses, they will not advance to the state tournament which will be held in St. George February 28 through March 1. The Dinos refuse to loose however, which means two weekends spent in sunny southern Utah.

According to Dinos head coach Ted Bianco, the boys had a tough draw by being matched up with Dixie High in the preliminary game on Friday. "As long as we play well and step up our defense, we have a good chance of advancing to the state tournament," explained Bianco.

The Dino team has struggled in recent weeks to finish on the winning end of the score board, but remain confident that they can defeat Dixie and advance to the finals. With sheer determination and hard work, the team will find themselves seated in the state tournament next week.
