The final week of the Western Boys Baseball Association major league competition has proved to be intense and exciting. After two days of competition, the Price National and Northern Heights teams advanced to the final round of local tournament action.

This week's events kicked off July 28 as Northern Heights faced Price National in a seesaw game that witnesses one team then the other securing the lead.

When everything was said and done, Northern Heights prevailed to send Price National into the loser's bracket by the final, 13-10.

During an elimination game last Monday, Green River surprised Helper with a 10-0 win to end the season for Helper. This win secured Green River a spot in another elimination round battle with Price National Tuesday night.

During this game, Price National took an early lead over Green River but the Emery County team struck back with a six run rally in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the Price team's lead to 10-7.

Green River failed to score a run in the last three innings however, the Price squad scored five more runs to capture the 15-7 victory and advance to the final round of tourney action.

The championship game was set to take place July 30 as Price National was faced with the difficult task of defeating Northern Heights. Although Price National could capture the win, then they would have to turn around and defeat their opponent for the second straight time Thursday evening in order to capture the title.

The winner of the major league match up will advance to the little world series which will begin August 5 in Roosevelt. The local winner will be seeded in pool B and will have the chance to face teams from Morgan, Highland and California.

During the world series tourney, each team will compete against three separate teams and the winner of each pool will advance to the championship bracket to take place August 8-9.
