WBBA Action Moves on to Regional Tournament Action

Minor league Northern Heights team mates scramble for the ball against Helper during a game in Price last week. Currently, both minor league teams are competing in the regional finals for a chance to capture this year's championship trophy.

After completing round robin style tournament action last week, the Western Boys Baseball Association's minor league kicked off regional tournament action July 19.

The top four teams from the first tournament earned their way to the region tourney which will decide the region champ for this season.

Action kicked off in Helper with Northern Heights sending Green River to the loser's bracket after a first round win. Northern Heights defeated Green River by the final 10-3.

Also claiming a first round victory was Helper who handed Price National a 10-2 loss.

Games were scheduled for July 21 as Green River faced Price National in an elimination game.

Also competing Monday was Helper and Northern Heights. The loser will move on to compete in another elimination game July 22 at 6:30 p.m. This game will take place on the Price National field in south Price.

The winner of the Helper and Northern Heights game will however, get a days rest while they await a challenger for the regional title.

Local major league teams concluded round robin tourney play late last week. Once again, the top four teams advance to the region tourney which will get underway later this week.

Advancing to region tourney play are Northern Heights Gray, Price National White, Helper and Green River.

The first game the major's will play will take place July 25 at 4 p.m. as Helper and Northern Heights Gray compete for a chance at the region title.

Following the opening game, Price National White will face Green River at 6:30 p.m.

The major league tournament will resume next Monday and will wrap up by the end of the week.

These games will also take place on the Price National field and the winner of the double elimination tourney will move on to compete in the little world series of WBBA which will begin August 5.
