WELLINGTON - Our devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dora Maria Martinez Jaramillo, age 87, passed away peacefully Aug. 16, 2014 while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 2, 1927 in Dulce, N.M. to Eloy and Violeta Montoya Martinez. On Oct. 24, 1949 she married the love of her life, Ruben Jaramillo in Lumberton, N. M.
Dora was a member of the Catholic Church and a 35 year member of the Notre Dame Sewing Guild. She shared a special love of sewing and quilting and over the years she blanketed her family with these gifts. Dora took great pride in her handiwork and received many blue ribbons at the state and local fairs. She also enjoyed to dance and listen to Ruben play the guitar. Whenever she heard him play, her eyes would light up and she would begin to sway back and forth. Dora will be dearly missed by her family and many dear friends.
Survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ruben Jaramillo, Wellington; daughter, Lucille Gonzales, Roy; four sons, Leo (Leslie) Jaramillo, Naperville, Ill, Orlando Jaramillo, Carbonville, David Jaramillo, Larry Jaramillo, both of West Valley; brother, John O. Martinez, Chromo, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Andrea, Laura, Kayla, Luke, Michael, Aubrey, Cody, JoLynne, Kristie, Cassie and Christopher; 8 great-grandchildren, Jada, Jailee, Coby, Joseph, Jude, Julian Jacob and Maya,
Preceded in death by parents, grandson, Jason; and siblings, Fefa, Eloy, Delfin and Demetrio.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Tuesday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome to join the family Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
