Players from all over Utah, and even abroad, looking to make impact with Golden Eagles

For the first time on Tuesday, the new men's and women's soccer teams at USU Eastern took to the field for practice in anticipation of the start to their seasons over the next two weeks.

New Head Coach Ammon Bennett is no stranger to success in college after helping start programs at Iowa Western Community College and taking their mens and womens teams to success on a regional, district and national level.

"It's very exciting and a little nerve wracking to get a new program started."

Bennett said both teams attracted players not only from all parts of Utah, but also from around the country and even abroad.

"We're very pleased with the athletes we have on the teams," Bennett said.

The women's team will open their season on Tuesday, August 19 when they travel to take on Adams State College (Colorado), an NCAA Division II school.

The men's team will open play on Saturday, August 23 when they travel to play Treasure Valley Community College (Oregon).
