Helper's 2014 baseball season came to an end Friday afternoon with an 8-1 loss to the Texas State Champions at the Western Regionals in Surprise, Arizona.

Texarkana, the Texas champions, scored two runs in the first inning, taking advantage of a Helper error to grab an early 2-0 lead. Helper answered back in the third inning when Bryce Blackburn hit an RBI single to score Dillon Wilstead to make it 2-1.

But that was as close as Helper would get. Texas added two runs in the bottom of the seventh and four runs in the eighth inning to help seal the victory.

Helper again had their chances to tie the game but were unable to convert on their opportunities. Texas pitchers held Helper to four hits over the nine innings while striking out 14.

With the loss, Helper's season comes to an end. Helper finished the season as Utah State Champions for the second straight year.

See Tuesday's Sun Advocate for more information about their performance at the Western Regional Tournament.
