Price police investigating fire, fatality
Price police are investigating a house fire and an apparent fatality that occurred at 423 S. 200 West Tuesday morning. Details are sketchy but the department is expected to release preliminary information later Tuesday afternoon.
Officers from Price and other agencies swarmed to the house and surrounded it, sidearms drawn, at about 11 a.m., reportedly after hearing that an armed person was hiding out inside. City fire fighters with backup from Wellington had to stand by and watch smoke billow from the home for about a half hour until given the all clear.
At about that time, a message from Public Safety Dispatch indicated a 10-85E (obvious fatality) at the scene.
Officers escorted one man, shirtless and shoeless who appeared to be handcuffed, to a police cruiser.
The Sun Advocate has the identity of the man but will not release his name or photo until it is confirmed there has been an official arrest.
Police cordoned off the street with yellow crime scene tape for fifty yards on either side of the house.
