Sunnyside Fire rages near East Carbon
The fire, which began at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday was spotted by a helicopter working the Bear Canyon Fire burning near Bruin Point. Once they spotted the fire, the chopper's pilots began dropping 150 gallon water loads on the fast moving grass fire. As the Smoke Jumpers working the Bear Canyon fire had their situation well in hand, they allowed the helicopter to assist Bureau of Land Management and local fire crews in the valley. The cause of the Sunnyside Fire is undetermined at this time and the BLM is currently conducting a full investigation to find out just what started the flames. As of Wednesday morning, the blaze had consumed nearly 200 acres of grass and brush land.
