Price Legion Baseball finishes season just short of state playoffs
Fourth place finish leaves Price on the cusp of continuing season in Logan
With another season now complete, the Price American Legion Baseball team has a lot to be proud about, according to Head Coach Willie Ellington.
"I think we had a great season to be honest," said Ellington. "We finished in fourth place (with a record of 5-9) which is the highest we've ever finished."
In their final games of the season, Price lost to league leaders Cyprus (13-3) on the road and Herriman (13-2) at home on Wednesday evening.
Price was scheduled to finish the season with a doubleheader against Corner Canyon on Friday afternoon, but Corner Canyon forfeited both games to Price.
"That was kind of a letdown," Ellington said. "We really wanted to play those final two games."
Ellington said he was proud of the team, noting their character kept them going strong over the season despite many ups and downs.
"This was a fun team to coach," he said. "They worked hard, won two tournaments and had a lot of fun out on the field and never gave up."
Ellington said he is excited for the team going into next year with a lot of returning players if they choose to play as well as younger players who may be able to get a spot on the squad.
