PRICE-Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Marcella Church Tempfer, age 89, passed away on Sunday ,July 13, 2014 in Price. Marcie was born Dec. 7, 1924 in Aurora, Wis. to Fred and Cecelia McGinn Church.
Marcie graduated from Kingsford High School in Iron Mountain, Mich. in 1942. In July of 1948, she met Paul and they were married Oct. 30, 1948 at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. Marcie has been an active member of Notre Dame Parish for many years, serving on the Altar Society. She also served on the state level. She was active in all church activities including taking communion to the shut ins. In 1992 she was Catholic Women of The Year.
Marcie was involved in Boy Scouts with Tim, 4-H with Tam and Tom and Girl Scouts with Trudy. Marcie had a wonderful generous spirit. She donated hundreds of her famous strudels to the church and other organizations. Her kindness and warmth was always a blessing to her family and friends and she always greeted everyone with a hug and a smile. Marcie made the world a better place. She loved playing cards with her children, grandchildren and friends. She and Paul enjoyed many years of traveling all over the world and taking cruises. She is a member of the SNPJ Lodge #113 where she was secretary. Marcie was also a member of the Slovenian Home.
Survived by her husband Paul, Price; four children, Tim (Rose) of New Orleans, La,, Tammy ( Michael) of Buffalo, N.Y.; Tom (Jenny) Salt Lake City, Trudy (Boyd) Thornton, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Andrea Tempfer Clinton; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Leah, Muriel, Forrest, Gladys and granddaughter Robyn.
Funeral Mass, Thursday, July 17, 2014, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Wednesday evening, 7 p.m. at the church. Friends are welcome to join the family at the church Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to the services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Notre Dame Building Fund, 210 North Carbone Ave., Price, Utah 84501.
