EAST CARBON/ SOUTH JORDAN- Lillian LaNora Norman Grider Cassano, age 92, passed away peacefully July 5, 2014 in South Jordan.
She was born April 14, 1922 in Tangier, Ind. to Dora A. and Mabel M. Cummins Norman.
Married Cecil E. Grider, Nov. 16, 1941 in Montezuma, Ind. He died in a fishing accident on Utah Lake on May 19, 1963. Later married James Cassano, April 26, 1975 in Price. He died on May 19, 1986.
Nora was a devout member of the East Carbon Community Church since 1945. She served as a Sunday school teacher for 40 years, board member for over 35 years, youth leader and treasurer for 20 years. Nora retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years.
She was an avid outdoors woman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, river trips and rock hunting. Nora touched a great many people in her long life and she will be remembered for her loving and caring spirit. She loved the Lord, her church, family, and a community of friends. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. At Nora's request please no flowers.
Survived by her brother, Clarence Edwin Norman and his wife Mary; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James, David and Tom Norman; and sister, Barbara Matthews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Rocky Mountain Hospice and Carrington Court Assisted Living Center for their wonderful care and support of Aunt Nora.
Funeral service, Thursday, July 10, 2014, 11 a.m., East Carbon Community Church. Family will receive friends at the church Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Georgetown Cemetery, Georgetown, Illinois.
