Dinos fall in extras to Uintah
Carbon loses 3-0 lead, falls to Uintah 5-3 in nine innings
It was the ultimate swing of emotions for the Carbon High Baseball team in their second round game against Uintah.
With the threat of elimination hanging over their heads, Carbon quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a Dominic Rondinelli 3-run home run.
But Uintah never let up. They got runners on base and eventually took advantage of a few Carbon errors and miscues to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning.
The Dinos struggled to build a rally on offense but stayed in the game on strong pitching by starter Cole Fossat who threw eight strong innings with 10 strikeouts.
Uintah broke ahead off reliever Jarod Lessar in the ninth inning scoring two runs to grab the lead and ultimately win the game.
"You're disappointed if you don't win it all," said CHS Head Coach Bret Bennett. "We were one out away from the win but the guys left everything all out on the field."
