Dinos' eight-run rally leads to key region win
Eight-run fourth inning keys Carbon High win over North Sanpete
With the way the Carbon High baseball team played on Tuesday afternoon, it looked like a 10 round boxing match.
Carbon took an early lead, survived against a flurry of counter punches from North Sanpete before landing a knockout blow with an eight-run bottom of the fourth that broke the game wide open.
To add a little bit of flare and drama, Carbon High's Jarod Lessar scored the game's winning run on a wild pitch helping give the Dinos an 11-1 win over their Region 12 opponent.
The Dinos offense received contributions from all over the lineup in the inning. Jeter Tubbs had a two-run double with Kellen Trujillo and Colton Greener adding a two-run triple and an RBI double respectively.
The rally was capped off by a three-run home run by Dominic Rondinelli that pushed the lead to 10-1. Teammates in the dugout gave Rondinelli the silent treatment as he looked to celebrate the big hit. After a few quiet moments they swarmed him in celebration.
The win is a key one for the Dinos as they now face a four-game road trip starting with a double header against North Sanpete on Thursday, April 24. The Dinos will then travel to Richfield the following day to make up a game that was rained out back on April 1.
