PRICE/HOTCHKISS,COLO. - Edna May Karns, age 92, passed away on April 21, 2014 in Price at the Parkdale Care Center. She was born March 4, 1922 on a farm near Kingfisher, Okla. to Blaine Pearl and Nellie Hudson Ramey. She married John Freeman Karns on Nov. 7, 1941 at Oklahoma City, Okla.
Edna was raised in Oklahoma and attended grade school at the Parker Schoolhouse near Kingfisher and high school at Keil. She helped on the family farm and lived through the Drought, Dustbowl, and Great Depression.
In 1941, Edna traveled to Hotchkiss, Colo. to work in the fruit harvest. She met John Karns. They married and Edna lived on a farm on Roger's Mesa for the next 57 years. They had one daughter, Sharon. Edna moved to Price in 1998 to be near family.
Edna was a beautiful seamstress, loved gardening, and going to the mountains. Hunting, fishing and camping were her favorite recreation.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Ronald) Norris of Price; grandchildren: Carrie Norris of Price, Jason (Candice) Norris of Cedar City, Lisa Norris of Salt Lake City, and Kaylee Norris of Price; great-grandchildren: Braxton, Nash and Preslie Norris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim and sister Betty.
A family memorial will be held at a later date and interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Hotchkiss, Colo. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Edna at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
