The Carbon High baseball team wasn't very pleased after Payson came into town and handed the Dinos a 4-2 defeat last week.

So the Dinos returned the favor. And added a little more in return.

The Dinos defeated Payson in a doubleheader on Thursday, picking up two one-run wins including a 3-2 victory and a 7-6 comeback win.

Carbon High Head Coach Bret Bennett said both wins were "complete team wins" with multiple players contributing to come away with the two victories.

It may have helped that the Dinos were playing a little angry after dropping the home game to Payson just days earlier.

"The guys took it personal and they wanted to come back and get those two wins," said Bennett. "And they did."

In the second half of the doubleheader, the Dinos needed two runs in the top of the seventh inning after Payson took a lead in the bottom of the sixth.

With just a handful of games left, Carbon, 6-9 overall and 3-2 in Region 12 play, has shown they can rise to the occasion.

"We've come a long way and when we play as a team, we can do well," said Bennett.

Carbon will host North Sanpete on Tuesday, April 22 at the CHS Baseball Field at 3:30 p.m.
