Golden Eagles get key home sweep

USU Eastern takes all four games against Utah All-Stars; Regular season to finish this weekend at Colorado Northwestern CC

With the playoffs right around the corner, the USU Eastern baseball team is looking to finish the season on a high note.

The Golden Eagles are on track to do just that after sweeping a four-game series with the Utah All-Stars on Friday and Saturday afternoon at the USU Eastern Baseball Field.

The Golden Eagles outscored their opponents 43-8 over the four games.

USU Eastern got strong pitching in two shut outs with pitchers Chase Castle and Sean Hardman leading the way. Colter Moore threw five innings on Friday while striking out 10 batters.

At the plate, Bryce Blackburn and Jordan Mellen combined for 15 RBIs over the series.

USU Eastern, 20-18 overall, will travel to Rangely, Colo., for a three-game series starting on Thursday.
