FAIRVIEW - Marilyn Nelson 84 of Fairview passed away April 20, 2014 in Provo. She was born May 27, 1929 in Fairview to Byron Glen & Aldeva Gertrude Johansen Larsen. She lived in Fairview and Clear Creek before her marriage to Mark Jay Nelson on Dec. 26, 1947 in Provo. Later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
She was a wonderful mother to five children, two of whom, Layne Merrill and Mary Lee died at a young age. She was a member of the LDS church and had many callings in Primary, Relief Society and cub scouts as well as working in the Manti Temple for four years.
Marilyn volunteered on the board of the Fairview Senior Citizens as well as volunteering at the Fairview Museum. She worked at Safeway while she lived in Price before returning to retire in Fairview. Marilyn loved to crochet and was a hands-on grandmother who always had time for the kids and grandkids.
Survived by her children, Mark "Jay" (Kathy) Nelson, Fairview; Diane (Neil) Graham, Kearns; Kent B (Sandra) Nelson, Elmo; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; siblings, Joanne Robinson, Titusville, Fla.; Etta Marie (Bob) Coulter; Susan (Larry) Larsen, both of Ivins; Lewis (Joy) Larsen, Santaquin.
Preceded in death by parents, spouse, twin sister, Mae and sister, Elaine, brothers, Glen Byron, Evan Alan, children, Mary Lee and Layne Merrill.
Funeral services will be Friday April 25, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Fairview 4th Ward Church. Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m - 12:30 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment in the Fairview City Cemetery. Online condolence at www.rasmussenmortuary.com
