Carbon scores four in the first inning, holds off Murray for big non-region win

With a game on the road against Murray, a tough 4A school, going in things may have looked like the Carbon High baseball team would be at a huge disadvantage.

But that was not the case at all on Tuesday afternoon.

The Dinos scored four runs in the first inning and added one run in each of the second and third innings as they picked up a huge 6-2 non-region win over Murray.

"Our offense put the ball in play, we used some hit-and-runs and we got some great pitching from Jarod Lessar to get the win," said CHS Head Coach Bret Bennett.

As they Dinos head back to region play against Payson on April 15, Bennett said the win is a confidence builder for the team.

"We needed it," said Bennett. "Murray is a very good team and hopefully our team can build off of this big win."
