Local traveling teams pick up big wins at tournament

Two local traveling baseball teams participated in tournament play in St. George from April 3-5 and were able to come away with a handful of big wins.

The Eastern Utah Sliderz, a 9 and under team, participated in the Rocky Mountain School of Baseball tournament going 2-2 against competition from around the state of Utah as well as from other states including Colorado and Nevada.

The Sliderz defeated the Utah Thunder 18-1 and defeated the CV Commanders 24-1 before falling to Summit Baseball 15-5 and Dixie Hitmen 13-11.

A team comprised of 13-year-olds from Carbon County also participated in the tournament going 2-2.

The Carbon team defeated S. Fremont Cougars 8-7 and also picked up an 8-4 win over the Utah Monarchs. They dropped their two other games to the GJ Rams (7-6) and Summit Baseball (6-3).
