Letter to the Editor: Trans-Pacific Partnership scheem

By Fred D. Richardson

About a month ago, my brother gave me a copy of an editorial in The Salt Lake Tribune. It was written by Jonathan M. Ruga and Rocky Anderson; ex Salt Lake City Mayor and one of the leading Democrats in the state.

I would like to share a few paragraphs from that editorial. "The Trans Pacific Partnership(TPP) is a trade agreement being negotiated in secret among 12 nations, including The United States. The Obama Administration, with the support of many members of both parties, claims the TPP will permit U.S. companies to compete more effectively in the global marketplace by lowering trade barriers. The reality, though, is far different.

Only about a third of the agreement addresses typical trade matters. The rest is a secretive ploy to further empower multinational corporations to the detriment of the health, safety and quality of life of millions of men, women and children in The United States and other participating nations.

Among the most egregious problems of the TPP are: (1) The forfeiture of U.S. Sovereignty;(2) the secretive negotiating process; (3) provisions that will lead to untold suffering and devastation; and (4) the dangerous "fast track" approval process.- mostly representatives of multinational corporations (including Wal Mart, Chevron, Halliburton and Monsanto)- have access to The TPP and are providing self serving input.

Approval of The TPP will be the culmination of the democracy- destroying oligarchic trend toward a government bought and paid for by behemoth companies in the banking, defense, fossil fuel, health insurance and pharmaceutical industries- and by The Wal Marts of the world that care little about decent wages, working conditions or the availability of U.S. Jobs.

Making all of this worse is the Obama Administration's demand to utilize a "fast track" approval process, which would eliminate the ability of Congress to make any amendments to the agreement"

I would hope that The Sun Advocate could publish the whole editorial for everyone to read. It is scary! Maybe coming from a leading Democrat, people will take notice and remove their rose colored glasses and realize America is in trouble.

Remember NAFTA and GAT and all the prosperity they were going to create. It didn't happen. These are the same people who won't close our borders and want for us all to be one big worldwide family and keep harping on amnesty.

I sent two emails each, to our two senators and neither one responded. This is dangerous that our elected officials are ignorant of this or are helping to cover it up. Lets have some accountability Mr Hatch and Mr Lee. Where are you on this? Someone should have heard about it in four years.

This is the conspiracy, that Bill O Reilly of Fox News, says doesn't exist, in action.

There are bad people running your country, wanting it to fail.
