Businesses in Castle Country are joining the bandwagon for Price City's Play Unplugged program and this summer kids in the area will be having great fun collecting the Brag Badges and prizes that will be offered up for participating.

The program, paid for by the city and participating businesses, is set to get kids unplugged from their video games and televisions and out doing things in the community. It will also offer a lot of reasons why families can do things together and get rewarded in many ways for doing them.

In May, the Sun Advocate will be including a list of events, venues, activities and places where young people can go and learn something, in the papers Recreation and Vacation Guide that comes out every year. A special section will be inserted in the magazine that will list all that is available.

Then when kids and their families participate by going to one of those places, they can come to the local business that is sponsoring that venue and get their Brag Badge. Those Brag Badges will be valuable during the summer as prize drawings and other events will take place.

At the end of the summer some grand prizes will be awarded for those that have collected the most badges.

The Sun Advocate is acting as the agent for the city in the program, asking businesses to join and helping with the events. One of the things the paper wants to do is publish photos of kids and families at the various venues on the list. The paper is asking that participants take photos of themselves at the venues and submit them with written information to the paper. Then we will publish as many as is possible in the paper during the summer.

Businesses that buy into the program get to have people coming in their doors to collect the Brag Badges. And of course because of their support, Price City is looking for local people to support the local businesses that join up to pay for the cost of the badges.

In May a promotional crew will go around to various schools in Carbon County and an assembly will be held for the students so they can understand the program and how it will benefit them.

Businesses already signed up to sponsor Brag Badges include Tony Basso GM, Castleview Hospital, Sutherlands, KOAL Radio (Paul and Ann Anderson), KUSA, Tony Basso ATV, Main Street Grill, Coldstone, Farm Bureau Insurance, Eastern Utah Credit Union, Mountain America Credit Union, the Price Police Department, BEH Communications, Office, Etc., Cut Above, Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, Supreme Muffler, Ultra Lube, Fitness World, Absolute Compassion, Bills Home Furnishings, Bicycle Werks, The Tuscan Events Center, A Pawn and Loan Shop, East Carbon City, the Sun Advocate and Price City.
