Dinos get first Region 12 win with 2-0 shutout victory over Richfield

After dropping four straight games to teams including Union, Spanish Fork, Provo and Payson by a combined score of 24-2, the Carbon High boys soccer team found themselves in a rut playing against tough competition.

It didn't take long for the Dinos to put that behind them.

Carbon scored two second half goals by Jamin Jensen and Ryan Atwood and a solid defensive performance by the back line and goalkeeper Trace Johnson helped the Dinos to a 2-0 shutout win over Richfield on Tuesday afternoon at the Carbon High Soccer Field.

Playing in cold and windy conditions, the Dinos battled against the Wildcats holding possession of the ball through much of the second half as they got multiple opportunities at the goal. The Dinos' margin of victory could have been higher if not for a bit of bad luck with hitting goalposts and good saves from Richfield's goalkeeper.

The Dinos (2-5 overall, 1-1-0 in Region 12) will host North Sanpete on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the CHS Soccer Field.
