When Elizabeth Kourianos resigned from the Price City Council on April 25, no one knew who was interested in filling the position or who would be selected once those interested did apply.

But that question was answered last week when from a field of 10 candidates a special selection committee and Mayor Joe Piccolo decided that the newest Price City councilmember will be Jeanne McEvoy, a teacher with the Carbon School District.

The candidates who threw their name into the ring included McEvoy, Gary Kettbas, Earl R. Davis, Jr., Vern Jones, Ed Shook, Jeffrey Nielson, James R. Draper, John Serfustini, David Cox, and Joe Christman.

In the announcement, Piccolo said that it was a difficult decision and there were several very qualified candidates.

"This was an able bunch," he said. "They are all willing and capable of serving."

The final decision was made May 22 . It was made before the next council meeting because some projected absenses at that meeting will not have a qurom at their next meeting which will be held this Wednesday night.

However, once McEvoy is sworn in, she will be an active member and the council will have a qurom so they can take action on agenda items.
