V-tox your kids this summer
Have you ever been v-toxed?
Getting v-toxed means cutting out video games, television and most other electronic media for about 10 days.
It means some sacrifice and it also means mad kids if you have them do it with you.
But at the end, it could mean a closer family as well as less aggressive tendencies for those that follow the program.
It's all part of the Price City's Play Unplugged program, and while a v-tox is not a mandatory thing in any way, it is one of the most coveted brag badges a participant can earn during the program that will run this summer.
Price Play Unplugged is a program the city of Price has purchased to get kids out of their basements and living rooms this vacation season, and to get them to see and experience the world around them.
Some key elements of the program are:
Play Unplugged activities during the summer for kids and families.
Weekly prize drawings for kids who participate.
The collection by kids of "brag badges" from organizations and businesses in the
Carbon/Emery County area.
A violent video game turn in program that can earn kids special awards.
Prizes for the kids that collect the most "brag badges" during the summer.
A list of activities that kids and families can do together, all for the fun of real living.
A chance for a different kind of summer vacation.
Last year, the only place to run the program in Utah was Heber. It was a huge success with kids by the thousands joining in and businesses realizing large amounts of foot traffic coming through their establishments.
Most of all it brought families together, got kids outside their comfort zones (which they soon became comfortable with) and it brought the community together in a way no one had seen before.
The program was purchased by Price City with the Sun Advocate acting as the agent to spread the word both to the public and in businesses in the two county area.
In May the Unplugged team will be going around to area schools passing out lanyards on which to collect the brag badges and introducing students to all the fun activities that will associated with the program.
The program also has a Facebook page that is at https://www.facebook.com/Priceunplugged. It is being updated daily with information and eventually activities that will be associated with the program.
