MONROE/PRICE- Our loving companion, son, father, brother and friend, Joseph James Maestas, age 36, passed away Feb. 26, 2014 of Gastric Cancer at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. The family would like everyone to be aware that this type of cancer is a silent killer and can be cured if it has not spread. If you or someone you know has ulcer issues get an endoscopy. We hope that Joe's story will save other lives.

He was born April 29, 1977 in Price to Joseph James and Janet Bobette Baird Maestas.

Joe grew up in Castle Dale and graduated from Emery High School. He later moved to Monroe.

Joe attended the Richfield Bible Church. He was working for Trees Inc. and loved his job. He was always happy and wanted everyone else to be happy. His motto was "Be happy, eat ice cream". Joe enjoyed BBQ's, being outdoors, spending time with his children and his entire family. He loved his life in Carbon and Emery Counties and always looked forward to the Emery County Fair and Pageant. When he moved to Monroe he loved the 24th of July celebrations.
