While the season may have ended with a tough loss at the state tournament last week, the Pinnacle High girls basketball team acquired something very important heading into next year.

Experience.

With the team losing three seniors from this year's squad, if everyone else returns next season it should help create a more experienced team compared to the one that started this season under first year head coach Rob Harmon.

"The girls got the chance to experience playing under the bright lights and overall experience of the state tournament," said Harmon. "I wanted them to have that feeling of 'Hey I want to come back here next year,'" said Harmon.

Milford defeated Pinnacle 61-27 in a 1A play-in game on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield. Harmon said the experienced and deep Milford squad overwhelmed Pinnacle taking a 31-11 lead into halftime on their way to the win.

'They were the best team we played all year long," Harmon said of Milford. "They were a bigger team and was just a tough matchup for us overall."

The opportunity to play under the lights in that setting will help the team immensely, Harmon said. He cited the learning of the basics and just how to run plays as some of the things the team had to focus on early in the year.

"Our team got better and improved every day," he said. "I'm very proud of the girls for sticking with things."

Harmon said the returning players will need to continue working on the fundamentals of the game, free throw shooting and on their footwork during the offseason.

"We just really need to focus on working hard to put everything together for next season," he said.
