Panthers set for season finale at home
PHS Boys to host Whitehorse on Senior Night in Region 19 finale
With the season now down to just one game remaining, Pinnacle High Head Coach Cameron Gardner just wants his team to focus on playing good team basketball.
"The team needs to give plenty of effort and play with lots of energy out on the floor," said Gardner.
That's what Gardner is hoping to see when the Panthers host Whitehorse on Senior Night on Thursday, Feb. 27 at the PHS Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
Pinnacle High players Cody Dean Sanchez, Jackson Nichols, Wyatt Howard and Bronson Hammer will be playing in their final home game as Panthers.
With the playoffs just around the corner on March 5-7, Gardner said the game with Whitehorse can help the Panthers solidify a spot in the 1A playoffs. Whitehorse and Pinnacle are both fighting for a spot from Region 19.
The Panthers have struggled as of late losing their last six games. Four of those losses have came against Region 19 leader Monticello and second place Green River over the last month.
"Monticello and Green River are two very good teams and they have been very tough opponents for us," Gardner said.
Gardner said he wants the Panthers to focus on just executing the plays on offense and find open teammates for good shot opportunities.
What he is not hoping to see is too many players on the court looking to make the big home run pass that has plagued the team at times this season.
