PRICE- At the age of 86 mom died peacefully on Feb. 22, 2014 at the Pinnacle Nursing home in Price surrounded by the staff and nurses who loved and cared for her for many years.
She was born on Feb. 2, 1928 in Standardville to Parley Jones Hinkins and Jane Cathryn White. She was one of the youngest of 10 children in the Hinkins household.
She led a tumultuous adult life plagued with mental illness. Despite many years of living in nursing homes and frequent stays in the State Mental Hospital, she will be fondly remembered for her love of her grandchildren and animals. When she was a child she had horses, goats, and ducks as playmates. Her favorite pets were her cats. She loved to sing and yodel and entertained her young children and later her grandchildren by singing Zippety Doo Da, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Get Along Little Doggie and many old time lullabies. Her greatest joy is also her proudest accomplishment and that is her five children and many grandchildren. If mental torment in this life brings peace and enlightenment in the next life, then mom has much to look forward to.
Survived by children Sherrie Lynn (Russ) Jensen, Thomas William (Toma) Lewis, Mitchell Oren (April) Lewis, Ralph Victor (Sondra) Lewis, Richard Dean Lewis (Bonnie); 12 grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two great great grandsons, and one sister Dorothy Peterson.
She was preceded in death by parents Parley Jones Hinkins and Jane Cathryn White; infant son Henry Eugene Lewis; brothers Parley Hinkins, William Hinkins, Earl Hinkins, Gary Hinkins, Arthur Hinkins; sisters Jennie Olson, Pearl Slater, Hannah Ariotti; two husbands Ralph Victor Lewis and Blaine Olsen.
