The Sun Advocate will team up with the Girls and Boys Club of Price on March 22 at 2 p.m. to raise funds for the organization which provides services and a place for kids to call their own right here in Castle Country.

The event is called the Newspaper Olympics.

The intention of the event is to make for a fun time for participants and for everyone who comes to learn more about the Girls and Boys Club.

Teams will consist of four members and a $40 entry fee will be collected for each team. All proceeds from the teams entries will go to support the club.

Three events will be held for teams to participate in.

The first is a Newspaper Boy Paper Throw. In this event teams will use rolled up newspapers that they will throw at a tire some feet away. They will get one point for every newspaper they place through the hole in the middle of the tire. Each team member will participate having a minute to throw as many as they can through the tire.

The second event will be the Newspaper Shuttle. This will be an event where the team members must carry a bundle of newspapers on their extended arms in a relay race through a course. The race will get increasingly harder as each new relay member gets another bundle of newspapers to carry through the course. The last member of the team will have to carry four bundles. The team with the best time in the course wins that event.

The final event will be what is termed the Tower of Babel. Team members will have two minutes to build the tallest tower they can out of bundled newspapers. The tower will be measured at the end of their time and the tallest tower will win the event.

Each events winners will get prizes awarded to them. There will also be an award for the team that wins two of the three events.

If separate teams win each event, then there will be a tie breaker event that will determine the winner of the grand prizes. The kind of event that will be used for this purpose will not be disclosed unless there is a tie.

Team members may be any age or gender. Preregistration is desired so the events committee can plan for the event, but they will accept registrations on the day of the event.

The public is encouraged to come and watch the proceedings. Refreshments will be served.

The event committee hopes to have many businesses participate, but individual teams can be entered as well. Payment for registration will be due the day of the event.

The event will take place at the Girls and Boys Club of Price at 200 East and 130 North.

Official rules for the event will be given to teams when they register.

For information on becoming part of the event call Richard Shaw at the Sun Advocate at 435 637 0732 Ext. 23 or email a request to ourlives@sunad.com.
