Watkins proposes high tech cameras for North Springs target shooting
John Watkins, representing the non-profit, apolitical Friends of the NRA Foundation, requested and received permission from the county commission to write a grant proposal to bring remote camera target monitoring to rifle ranges at the North Springs shooting facility.
He told commissioners the foundation has about $192,000 in available grant money statewide. His proposal would be for 10 Bullseye Camera systems.
The weatherproof cameras could be mounted beside distant targets. They would transmit images of the target to laptop computers so shooters could see where their bullets hit and tag each shot with information.
Watkins said the whole proposal would be for about $10,000. He needed commission approval since the county would be the recipient of the grant.
