SPRING GLEN- Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Dorothy Mae Benzinger Blackham, age 80 passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2014 at her home in Spring Glen.
She was born July 10, 1933 in Valley City, N.D. to John and Valborg Ryerson Benzinger.
Married Charles L. Blackham, Feb. 4, 1955 in Cooperston, North Dakota; he passed away April 19, 1989.
Dorothy was a graduate of Valley City High School class of 1951 and was a telephone operator for Northwest Bell Telephone Company prior to her marriage to Charles. She was the last of the original Pink Ladies of Castleview Hospital with 37 years of service. Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Helper. She was an avid bowler and die hard Utes and 49ers fan. She was affectionately known to everyone as Granny. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survived by her daughters, Janet (Alen) Petersen, Neosho, Mo.; Dottie (Tim) Flemett, Spring Glen; stepson, Ricky Riche, St. George; siblings, Bob and Dale Bezinger, Portland, Ore., Betty Anderson, Lompoc, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two unborn great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Charles Blackham; son, Robert John Blackham; parents; siblings, John Benzinger, Marilyn Denning; daughter-in-law, Leslie Riche.
Funeral service, Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street). Family will receive friends at Mitchell's Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
