HELPER - Hazel Olive Shuler Saccomano, age 82, passed away peacefully Feb. 1, 2014 at Pinnacle Care and Rehabiliton, after a year long battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 25, 1931 in Soldier Summit to Harry M. and Venus Nason Shuler.
Married the love of her life, Dominic "Blackie" Saccomano, Nov. 11, 1947 in Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1995.
Hazel was a lifelong resident of Carbon County who warmed the hearts of many while waitressing at the Towne Café and Bakery. She enjoyed bowling, going to Wendover, caring for her dog "Baby", and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Her smile brought great joy to those around her and her sweet spirit will be cherished forever.
Hazel was blessed with two sons, Alan and Tim Saccomano; and a daughter she never had, Renee; all of Helper; her sister, Dixie Martin, Chula Vista, Calif.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Blackie; son, Alan; brother, Robert Shuler; and a granddaughter.
Funeral Mass, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service, Monday evening 7 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
