HELPER - Our loving Daddy, Papa, brother and friend George S. Zamantakis, age 83, passed away Jan. 3, 2013.
George was born Feb. 19, 1930 in Sunnyside to Steve and Irene Kyriakakis Zamantakis. George entered the Army and served as a Corporal during the Korean War.
During his service in Austria he met the love of his life Ellie. Upon returning to Price they married on May 24, 1953 at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. They had 59 loving years together until her passing in January of 2013.
He worked for the Denver and Rio Grande railroad for 43 years as a car distributor.
George was a very talented artist. He painted wildlife paintings for many years giving lovingly of his talent to his family, his church and his dear friends. He was an extremely proud Greek Orthodox Christian who loved to pass on all the traditions that came with it. Greek Easters will never be the same without our Daddy patiently waiting to hand out samples of the roasting lamb. He gave freely of his love and was never one to hold back on his thoughts or feelings. Daddy was an example of a hero to his entire family. He will be dearly missed. "May His Memory Be Eternal."
George is survived by one son and three daughters, Steve (Heidi) Zamantakis, Helper, Irene Zamantakis, Price.
