Authorities are still searching for a cause for the reason a car drifted into oncoming traffic leading to a fatal head-on crash in Price early Monday morning.

Sgt. Todd Royce of the Utah Highway Patrol said Wednesday morning that the cause of the head-on collision is still under investigation.

UHP has previously said that weather did not play a factor in the crash.

Utah Highway Patrol identified the fatality of the head-on as 51-year-old Kelly F. Wise, of Price. In a press release, the UHP reported that Wise was driving a 1991 Toyota Camry eastbound along the East Price interchange around 7:52 a.m. when she drifted into the westbound lane, striking an oncoming 2011 Nissan Rogue head-on at mile post 243.

In the preliminary release the UHP said that Wise was not wearing a seat belt and died as a result of her injuries.

The three occupants in the Nissan were all wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries.

The crash shut down both lanes of the highway through the early morning hours. Traffic was later opened in both lanes shortly after Noon.

While weather and road conditions are not thought to be the cause of the accident, Royce said there were still a number of different things the UHP was looking into including usage of a cell phone while driving, possible car malfunction and more.
