Barracudas swim to victory in Moab

On Saturday, Nov. 23 the Castle Valley Barracuda swim team swam to victory against the Moab Sea Devils. This was the Barracudas first meet of their winter season.

"With 85 best times swam this weekend, I think this meet was a huge success," said head coach Kamera Davis.

Starting off the morning was the 8 and under age group Jenna Richards swam her best times in 2 out of her 3 events. Her best improvement was in the 25 backstroke where she slimmed 6 seconds off her time, and she was part of the winning 100 free relay.

Ada Bradford swam her best times in 5 out of 6 events her best is the 100 I.M. where taking 24 seconds off her time, she was part of the winning 100 free relay. Rebecca Swasey our youngest swimmer at age 6 swam in her first meet. It was a great was to start her swimming debut with a 3rd place in the 25 back and a 5th in the 25 free. She also was part of the winning 100 free relay. Lilly Seeley swam 3 events and swam 3 best times. Her best improvement was the 25 backstroke where she improved her time by 8 seconds.

Evan Lancaster swam 4 events and had 4 best times. His best improvement was the 25 backstroke where he demolished his time by 15 seconds. Colin Fausett swimming his first meet placed 4th in the 25 freestyle with a great time of 27.09. Brock Johnson swam his best time in 4 out of 5 events his best improvement was in the 50 freestyle taking off 11 seconds. Gabriel Ibanez swam his best times in 5 of his 6 events. His best improvement was in the 100 I.M. with a trimming of 10 seconds from his time. The 9-10 age group our biggest age group of the meet.

Nicole Swasey swam 5 events right on track with her times. She took 1st place in her age group in 4 of the 5 events. Bryndee Maxfield new to this age group showed them she was ready to be aged up she finished 5 out of 6 best times with 2 first and 4 second place finishes. Katie Jones just joined the team a couple months ago and is improving rapidly. She swam in 4 events placing 3rd in all three with great times. Natale VanDyke had best times in 3 out of 5 events. Her best improvement was in the 100 I.M. She took 23 seconds off her time. Jezmin Presset has only been on the team for a few months and is swimming very well. She is a power house swimmer.

"I am so excited to see how much she will keep improving," said Davis.

She placed 4th in the 50 free and 5th in the 35 free and 25 butterfly. Ava Black swam 2 out of 3 best times taking off 2 seconds in her 24 butterfly. Beverly Landcaster had 5 out of six best times. Her most improved swim was the 100 I.M. taking off 10 seconds. Logan Odendahl had her best time in the 25 free and had 4 other strong swims. Mollie Horsley also new to the team swam 3 events. Her best finish was 4th in the 25 breaststroke and she swam a fast backstroke for her relay.

Max Landcaster had 6 great swims finishing 1st in 25 free, 25 breaststoke, 25 butterfly and 50 free. Boyd Bradford had his best time in the 25 freestyle at 19.11, and placed 1st in the 100 I.M., and 25 back. Dallan Dart had best times in 3 of 5 events his best was the 100 I.M. he took off 14 seconds. Rusty Seeley had one of his best meets with best times in all 5 of his events. His best was 6 seconds off his 50 free time. William Stoddart swam close to all his times in 6 events getting one besttime by 3 seconds in the 25 breaststroke. Ayden Greenhalgh had 2 out of 5 best times taking off 2 seconds in his 25 butterfly.

Our next age group is 11-12.

" This, in my opinion, is the hardest and most competitive ge group," said Davis.

Alexa Greenhalgh had 1one out of 4 best times getting her best in the 50 free. Jacee Richards, new to this age group, performed well getting all best times and taking 5 seconds off her 50 free. Noah Bradford also new to this age group had 5 out of 6 best times, each at 1 second faster. Colton Martinez had 2 best times taking off 13 seconds in the 50 backstroke. Chad Laursen is new to the team. He finished with 3 second place finishes in the 50, 100 free and the 50 backstroke.

Our oldest swimmers in meets are the 13 and older group. Abby Layton had her best time in the 50 free and finished 1st in the 100 back and 100 free. Shannon Baker participated for the first time and received 2nd in the 100 back and 100 free. Kaisha Lott had all 1st place finishes in her 50 free, 100 breaststroke and 100 I.M. Tyson Swasey had all 1st place finishes in the 50 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 I.M. and 100 free.

"I am excited to see so many improvements in times. Our team is getting bigger and stronger every season," concluded Davis.
