EAST CARBON - Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister Ester M. Valdez passed away peacefully Nov. 26, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 10, 1923 in Capulin, Colo., to Presilano and Felicita Sena Lopez.
Married Jose Leo Valdez June 17, 1946 in Capulin, Colo. He passed away Jan. 8, 1999.
She loved gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, traveling with family, bingo, and trips to Wendover. Mama leaves behind a sterling example of courage in the face of adversity, and an unconditional love for her family.
Survived by her children, Phyllis (Steve) Green, Kenneth (Brenda) Valdez, Carla (Arnold) Torrez, Clifford Valdez, Annette (Gary) Boyd; daughter-in law, Ann Valdez; son-in-law, George Griego; brothers, Pres (Dorothy) Lopez, Joe (Lillian) Sena; sisters, Teresa (Doug) Taylor, Connie Ruybal; grandchildren, Judy (Dominic) Browning, Grant Griego, Patricia Griego, Teri (Armando) Cohelo, Eric (Desiree) Torrez, Brian (Kelly) Torrez, Lisa Valdez, Brandie (Kevin) Alexander, Talia (Luis) Martinez, Garrette, Chandler Boyd, Shana (Kale) Cotner; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Ester was preceded in death by her husband Leo; daughter, Veronica; parents, brother, Ramon Lopez; sisters, Elma Quintana, Jay Martinez and Cleo Lovato; brother-in-laws, Pete, Milo, & Alfred Valdez; sister-in-laws, Placida Espinoza, Eleanor Valdez.
The family wishes to extend special thanks and sincere appreciation to the Symbii Hospice Staff, Dr. Etzel, Jeannette Manley, Maria Jeffs and the staff of Mitchell Funeral Home.
Vigil Service, Friday evening, 6 p.m. Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Family will receive friends at the church Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal, Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside.
